不同文化的人們,在文化取向、生活方式、社會規范、價值觀,民族性格、思維方式等方面存在差異。因此,在跨文化交際中,由于文化沖突,而導致的交際失誤是難免的,如問候語、恭維語、自謙語、稱謂語、祝福語、禁忌語、角色用語、吉祥語、委婉語的使用上,中西方人士之間也往往出現一些尷尬。
二、 產生差異的原因
首先,文化語言學研究表明,語言中儲存了一個民族所有的社會生活經驗,反映了該民族文化的全部特征。兒童在習得一種民族語言的同時,也在習得該民族的文化。所以,語言和語言的應用不可能脫離文化而單獨存在。正如美國著名語言學家薩丕爾指出,“文化可以解釋為社會所做的和所想的,而語言則是思想的具體表達方式?!庇捎谡Z言是一種民族文化的表現與承載形式,不了解這個民族的文化,也就無法真正學好該民族的語言。外語教學不僅要介紹語言知識并進行“四會”技能訓練,更應該把這種學習與訓練放到文化教學的大背景中進行,最終使學生具有語用能力。其次,除了語言本身所承載的文化涵義外,西方國家的風俗習慣,人們的生活方式,,思維方式等都有著深厚的文化背景和底蘊。因此,在英語教學中還要適時地想學生介紹文化背景知識。如:在中國稱中年以上的人為“老”,是尊敬的表示,可在西方,“老”卻意味著衰朽殘年,去日無多,因此西方人都忌諱“老”,都不服“老”。有為導游講過這樣一件事:在一次帶隊旅游中,我們的這位導游看到一位美國老太在艱難的爬山時,便上前去攙扶她,卻遭到了老人的拒絕。為什么會發生這種事呢?因為在美國這樣一個老人普遍得不到尊重的社會里,老人們養成了不服老,堅持獨立的習慣。
三、 在英語教學時,我們應怎樣結合日常生活向學生介紹英美國家文化,進而減少與以上類似的尷尬呢?
1. 營造寬松,民主,和諧的教學氣氛,感受和體驗文化
我們的傳統觀念主張孩子要服從老師和家長,要聽大人的話。于是在課堂上就形成了教師灌輸知識,學生被動接受的局面,教師有著相當高的權威。而西方國家講究每個人都是獨立的個體,父母經常會對孩子說“Thank you.”和“I’m sorry.”長幼之間平等對待。因此,在教學中從一開始就應鼓勵每個學生積極嘗試,學說英語,鼓勵學生質疑。不應放過學生給老師的每一次幫助,并且勇與承認自己的過失,一句簡單的“Thank you.”或“I’m sorry.”拉近了師生間的距離,把民主和平等的氣氛帶進了教堂。課堂上有時需要進行角色表演,在課外需組織一些與英語學習有關的party, 這時教師不是一個旁觀者、監督者,而要和學生一起參與,在運用語言進行對話,交際的過程中,引導學生感受文化的存在。
2. 通過課堂教學培養文化意識
課堂是英語教學的主陣地,培養學生的文化意識可以滲透在教學的各個環節中。
(1) 在進行語言教學的同時,傳授文化背景知識。教師需注意就語言材料中涉及的文化背景內容隨語隨文地進行解說,指明文化意義或使用中的文化習俗。如中國自古就有“有朋自遠方來,不亦樂乎的說法。而英美人習慣讓客人自主,隨意,比較尊重個人意愿。英文“請客人吃蘋果”若問“one apple?” 旨在征求客人的意見,而學生如說“Have some apples, please.”就帶有些勉強。
(2) 在課堂活動中強化學生的文化意識。學生學習外語時往往難以擺脫母語的干擾,常常會出現一些Chinese English. 即使他們對一些固定的表達方式或習慣用語了如指掌,真正使用時,仍會出現錯誤。因此,在課堂上要多組織有一些以學生為主的聯系活動,如: pair work, group work, role play等,一方面能激發學生學習英語的積極性,另一方面擴大學生的參與面,保證每個學生在課堂上都有機會學說英語。如學習了水果和食品的詞匯后,組織學生動手做salad沙拉——這一西方國家所特有的食品。
3. 通過節日民俗活動培養文化意識
現在,過“洋節”成了年輕人的一種時尚。學校里的孩子受父母的周圍同伴的影響,也對各種“洋節”津津樂道。我們不妨順水推舟,在慶賀節日的同時,讓學生感受一下中西方的節日文化。在圣誕節來臨之際,給學生講講圣誕故事和圣誕習俗,聽聽歌曲Silent Night, 體會圣誕的寧靜與祥和,然后同學間互贈賀卡,感受彼此的友情,同時不妨與中國的Spring Festival(春節)比較一下,看看中西方最大的節日有哪些異同。

1、教育背景中寫相關課程。但千萬不要為了拼湊篇幅,把所有的課程一股腦兒地都寫上,如體育等。這樣不很有效,別人也沒耐心看。
2、獎學金一項一行。許多學生每年都有獎學金,這樣一來,也可寫出三四行,甚至更多。
3、拉長句子。每個句子都可以加入一些詞拉長一些。其實拉長并不難,難的是縮短。
4、自然地多換行,多寫點句。
5、加大字號??蓪?0號,小五改成12號,小四。
6、社會工作細節放在工作經歷中。這樣會填補工作經驗少的缺陷,例如,您在做團支書、學生會主席等社會工作時組織過什么活動,聯系過什么事,參與過什么都可以一一羅列。
7、暑期工作。作為大學生,雇主通常并不指望您在暑期工作期間會有什么驚天動地的成就。當然如果您有就更好了。不過即使實在沒有,就算是在父母的單位呆過幾天,也不妨寫上。
8、中學情況。一般都不寫。寫的話也不要寫太多。當然,如果您在中學時得過國際奧林匹克比賽大獎或全國性的大獎,不妨提上一筆。
應注意避免的地方:
1、長句:沒有人愿意看太冗長的句子,而且切記yris(your resume is scanned,no tread)原則,雇主只是在掃描您的簡歷。
2、縮寫:因為外行人往往很難看懂。不要想當然地認為這是人所皆知的事情。
3、"i"我:因為正規簡歷多用點句,以動詞開頭,是沒有"我"的。當然若在公司簡介中一定要用到一兩次,也不是完全不可以。
4、不利因素:我們講過簡歷的原則是不要撒謊,但不寫不等于騙人。大家可能還記得前面提到過的"簡歷中的任何字句都可能成為面試中的話題。"揚長避短的道理,我想大家都是知道的。
5、"reference available upon request":這個短語的意思是如需證明,可提供見證人。這在許多英式、港式簡歷港文中經常出現,但是美式的簡歷則不要這樣寫。

這次大作文的命題方法出現了一些變化,無論是圖畫內容、文字暗示還是主題方面,都較之以前更靈活。下面我們就來看看這些變化在具體段落的描寫中如何體現。
在圖畫描述段中的體現
2016年的考題采取了雙圖描述的形式,雖然兩幅圖畫中只有兩個人物(兒子和父親),但是由于是兩幅圖畫,人物的動作和表情也隨之變得復雜和多樣化。在這種情況之下,考生無論從兒子還是父親的角度寫,都能展開寫作。從表面上,考生似乎擁有了較大的寫作自由度,但是因為寫作中會不斷涉及兒子和父親,考生在主語轉換、使用人稱時往往會產生混亂,這其實是增加了考試難度。
2016年的大作文在文字暗示上也增加了難度。文字暗示有時是一個單詞,有時是一句話,這次考試是圖畫中有一句話,下方有一個文字標題。2014年的寫作考題中有兩個漢字:相攜。2015年的寫作考題中有一句話:手機時代的聚會。而2016年寫作考題圖畫中有一句話:“兒子,你給我好好學習!”圖畫下方則設置了文字暗示:與其只提要求,不如做個榜樣。考生如果把其中任意一個翻譯出來,都可能會落入“翻譯陷阱”。這也是考研英語寫作最難對付的一點。盡管考生可以通過單句翻譯、摘字提煉兩種方法對文字暗示進行翻譯或闡釋,但是考生如果在翻譯過程中出現語法、用詞、拼寫等錯誤,則會被扣除相應的分數。換言之,增分點等于失分點。在筆者看來,本次文字暗示的考法設置得十分“老辣”,逼著考生臨場發揮,也比較能看出考生的實際水平。關于文字暗示的翻譯,筆者建議考生在用詞方面選擇自己熟悉的詞匯,把文字暗示的內容表達清楚即可,不要用大詞和難詞,以免因不熟悉其拼寫或用法導致翻譯錯誤。
關于描述段,筆者建議考生這樣寫:①先從人物的動作和神態寫起。比如本次考題,考生可以先描寫第一幅圖畫中父親坐在沙發上舒服地看電視,對兒子的學習情況漠不關心,然后描述第二幅圖畫,寫父子兩人共同學習,前一幅圖畫描寫可多一些,后一幅圖畫描寫少一些。②將文字暗示放在最后寫。這樣一來,考生就能把圖畫內容簡單明了地交代清楚了。
請看下面參考例文:

本次大作文的主題將教育話題和家庭關系進行了組合。這樣的出題思路很妙。如果直接考查學校教育類話題,那很多考生就會套用常見的教育類題材的模板來完成寫作。但命題者將教育問題放在家庭背景內,考生就需要考慮到家庭影響,同時要處理其和教育題材的關系。這樣一來,簡單的套寫就無用武之地了。
教育類話題在考研英語寫作中曾有所涉及,比如2003年的“溫室花朵經不起風雨”??忌绻尺^2003年的范文,在本次考試時沒有認真審題,生搬硬套2003年范文的內容,那必然導致跑題。家庭關系的話題在歷年考研英語寫作中也涉及過,比如2005年的“養老足球賽”、2014年的 “相攜”。但這兩道考題談的是贍養、孝道,與今年的圖片內容存在差異,考生無法整段套寫。此次考試命題的“厲害”之處在于:主題看似簡單,都是以前考生曾經見過的話題,但又不能一字不改地套寫;主題十分開放,既不與考生的知識背景相沖突,也沒有用偏題難為人,但是“教育”和“家庭”兩個話題均要有所涉及,又不能顧此失彼。這樣的命題思路就對考生的布局和闡述能力提出了較高的要求。
那關于闡述和看法段,考生該如何應對呢?筆者建議考生首先要認真審題,確定主題后,闡釋和論證圖片表達的思想。比如本次考題,考生可以順著家庭關系的角度寫兒女教育,“快打快撤”,不在子女和父親的親情上浪費筆墨,而是將重心集中于父親的行為上,強調“以身作則”的重要性。考生在給出自己的觀點和看法時,要根據圖片內容,不要憑空發表意見。比如本次考題,考生可以根據題目圖畫中父親看電視的行為,聯想到有些父母把大量時間用在娛樂上,然后提出父母應提高自身素養的建議。
請看以下參考例文:
Some Chinese parents lack self-discipline and spend much of their leisure time on activities such as watching TV. They are totally unaware that their own behavior sets a bad example for the balanced development of their children. As a result, they seldom help their children to learn, to think independently or to solve problems. 應對題型多變的方法
看完以上筆者的分析,考生可能會問:在備考階段該如何應對這種靈活多變的考題呢?筆者總結了三個方法,供考生借鑒。
方法一 加強審題訓練
考題多變、雙主題組合――這樣的命題思路看似復雜,但是對考生也有好處:不同水平的考生拿到題目后,都能根據題目暗示寫出一些內容。不過如果考生只會背范文,不注重審題,或者總想整段照搬模板,則很容易出問題。比如2016年的這道考題,題目明確要求考生對家庭環境和兒女教育進行闡述,而考生依然生搬硬套“不要溺愛子女,讓他們獨立成長”,就會出現內容和主題嚴重不符的情況,這樣的作文會被判定為套用模板,得分會很低。出現這種情況,主要是因為考生沒有仔細審題,機械地將背過的句子進行堆砌,最終導致內容跑題。在這種情況下,考生應該首先建立起尋找主題的意識,平時多做審題訓練,步驟如下:①閱讀題目的文字暗示,大致判斷一下,這些文字暗示的是哪個主題方向,是養老話題、網絡話題、教育話題還是兩個話題組合出題。②理清思路,回想一下自己背的素材范文內,哪些是切題的,哪些是不切題的。有了這兩個判定之后,再下筆寫作,就不會生搬硬套或跑題了。
方法二 注意歸納總結
歸納總結是審題訓練的延續,建議考生盡量少背或者不背套句和空話,而把主要精力放在以下兩個方面:①將與各種題材相關的好詞、好句摘錄出來。②將背誦重心放在和題材相關的詞句方面。這樣一來,考生平時對各種題材的常用語句有所積累,考試時印象深刻,自然有話可說。此外,將復習重點放在有效表達上,也能確保用詞準確。而語言的準確性又恰恰是作文評分的重要依據之一,考生如果在備考階段多積累有效表達,那么考試時出現錯誤的可能性就少,也更容易得到高分。

一天,獵人高高興興地帶著老鷹和鸚鵡去趕集。由于匆忙,獵人在途中滑了一跤。這一下,原本停在他肩上的老鷹受到驚嚇,匆忙起飛,結果利爪不小心把獵人抓成了大花臉。
獵人十分懊惱,就和鸚鵡嘀咕,數落老鷹的不是。
