《Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics》本刊1981年創刊至2000年已出版20卷。創刊時為中文期刊，2001年改為英文刊。主要刊登天文學和天體物理學領域的原創性研究論文。
《Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics》本刊主要欄目和報道范圍：“研究快報”用來報道天文觀測的新結果及新理論；“特約綜述”聘請國際知名天文學家就某些熱點問題進行專題評述。
